The founder of Kubota, Gonshiro Ohde (later Gonshiro Kubota) started working and saving at the age of 14. By the time he was 19, he started his own business, Ohide Casting, in one corner of an old tenement house in February of 1890 in Osaka, Japan. A few years later, his customer and the owner of Kubota Match Machine Manufacturers━Toshiro Kubota━became so impressed with Gonshiro’s work ethic that he started to take care of him. Then in 1897, he formally adopted Gonshiro and the company’s name was changed to Kubota Iron Works. 

What started out as a small cast iron business has, over the years, turned into a large corporation that has a number of products under its belt, such as agricultural equipment, construction equipment, vending machines, air conditioners, etc. Today, the brand is recognized and trusted around the world, including America.
